Radio Interview with fe:male Mentoring Circles Facilitator (Cyprus)

1Dr. Ria Morphitou, fe:male Mentoring Circles Facilitator at Intercollege, appeared on the radio show of Υiannis Tsouloftas “PEOPLE of DEVELOPMENT " on Wednesday, 7th of December, 2011. The radio show, invites key people of the public sphere to discuss important issues relating to the economic development of Cyprus and Europe in general.

Second phase of Mentoring Circles in Limassol (Cyprus)

On Wednesday, February 15, 2012, Intercollege Limassol began the second round of the fe:male Mentoring Circles under the mentoring of Dr. Annabel Droussiotis. The Mentoring Circles in Limassol will be completed by the end of March. Currently, there are seven participants in the Circles. Two are over the age of 50, two single parents, and an unemployed graduate. The other two of the participants live in the rural areas of Cyprus which is also regarded as a key factor for preventing women from accessimg labour market opportunities or seting up their own business.

International Women's Day on 8th March

womens_day The history of International Women’s day dates back to 1909 in    America, where it was originally celebrated as the International      Working Women’s Day. The day is celebrated annually on the 8th of  February around the world. Despite the great advances we have  made since 1909, women are still undervalued in the labour force  and the Gender Pay Gap is a good indicator of the underappreciation  of women in the labour force;  it currently stands at an average of  17.5% for the EU27.

First 2012 Mentoring Circle in Malta

Mentoring_Circle_MaltaThe first mentoring circle of 2012 was held in Malta on Thursday, 2nd February, 2012. Maryrose who had already met all the participants individually before the session welcomed the group to the second Mentoring Circles and gave a brief introduction of the FE:MALE project. Then Angele introduced the concept of the Mentoring Circles and participants were handed their respective learning packs and explained briefly what they contained. The group was quite big, involving 7 women.
